Sometimes you can also use the ricasso to choke up and get closer to the edge but it can also sometimes snag on things while cutting. Many users also prefer having no ricasso or choil at all to avoid snags and for ergonomic benefits. Thus, there were little to no conventional backlocks on the market that had no ricasso AND were safe to close one-handed. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor example, the Centofante 3 (originally intended to be a compression lock as the Vesuvius model) has no ricasso, so if you use your backlock muscle memory like I do, then you will need to get a band aid. However, with the \"Handle Forward\" design on the Rockjumper and Leafjumper models, there's a \"hidden ricasso\" that gives you the best of both worlds. Unlike the Shaman though, there is a small thumb ramp and the edge goes all the way to the handle so there's no risk of snags and no \"nub\" to bump your finger when when closing the blade. Like the Shaman, it also features a compression lock, though the action is not quite as smooth as what you'd be used to with the USA models. \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eThe handle ergos are also pretty good, as you would expect from Spyderco. It fills the hand quite well and the bi-directionally textured FRN scales provide excellent grip. Like the other models in the Temperance line, the LT3's scale features a dimple in the middle to serve as both a landing for the clip and an indexing point (to enhance muscle memory).
