This elite Sprint Run® expression of the Native® 5 Lightweight proudly features a blade crafted from CPM® 15V®, an extraordinary material that offers the highest wear resistance of any cold-work tool steel available today. Containing almost 15 percent vanadium, its unique alloy composition creates an exceptionally high volume of vanadium carbides in its microstructure. In knife blades, this translates to breathtaking cutting performance and edge retention. Spyderco’s limited-edition family of CPM 15V knives is further enhanced by a specialized heat-treating protocol developed by acclaimed custom knifemaker Shawn Houston. This Sprint Run expression of the Native 5 Lightweight faithfully includes all the signature elements of this design, including a high-strength back lock mechanism and a four-position pocket clip. To clearly distinguish it as a member of our CPM 15V family, its FRN handle is injection molded in a distinctive brown color and Shawn Houston’s “Triple B” logo is laser engraved on the reverse side of the full-flat-ground blade.

This is currently the most affordable way to experience the amazing (now discontinued) 15V steel! Also, the Native platform is one of the easiest to disassemble and maintain I've ever seen. If you really wanted to, and I am not suggesting that you should, you could swap the blade & lockbar (keep them together) into a G10 model. Or if you want to use aftermarket scales you could use the backspacer from a donor G10 model. Keep in mind with any disassembly or part swap, you may encounter fitment issues or problems with the action, even if it's unlikely with the Native series.
